Chef Jeffry Undiarto

Before Butterfish, Chef Jeffry trained at n/naka — the acclaimed Michelin-starred restaurant in Los Angeles known for its modern kaiseki cuisine. He brought that level of precision, creativity, and respect for ingredients to Rutherford, New Jersey.

At Butterfish, Chef Jeffry sources fish from around the world — Japan, Alaska, Hawaii, the Atlantic — selecting only what meets his standards each day. The omakase menu changes constantly because the ocean does too.

Why Rutherford?

Rutherford is a small town with big taste. We chose Franklin Place because we wanted to create something intimate — a 20-seat sushi experience where every guest gets the chef's full attention. No rushing, no conveyor belts, no compromises.

People drive from all over North Jersey, Manhattan, and beyond to eat here. Once you've had our omakase, you'll understand why.

BYOB

We don't sell alcohol, but we encourage you to bring your own. A great bottle of sake or champagne pairs beautifully with our omakase. We'll have glasses ready for you.
