Butterfish is an omakase sushi restaurant in Rutherford, New Jersey, led by Chef Jeffry Undiarto — formerly of the Michelin-starred n/naka in Los Angeles.
Our omakase is a multi-course journey: three carefully composed appetizers, twelve pieces of hand-formed sushi featuring the day's best fish from around the world, and two handrolls to finish. Every piece is thoughtful. Every course tells a story.
We source globally, prepare meticulously, and serve with genuine warmth. This isn't just dinner — it's an experience worth making a reservation for.
BYOB Welcome
We don't have a liquor license, which means you're free to bring your favorite bottle of wine, sake, or champagne. We'll provide the glasses and the food to pair it with. Our mocktail menu — including the Japanese Cherry Blossom — is pretty great too.
